If you haven’t already set up a business phone service, you can get substantial savings by using a broadband internet connection for your phone service as well. This is a particularly flexible option for you as your business grows because a modern system grows easily with your business.
We recommend hosted phone systems for all small businesses (under 15 or so people) if it is possible to install a hosted service. Typically all that is needed is a good internet service already in place. If you do not have that already, most providers can supply it as well. These solutions are particularly good for home-based businesses because they make it easy to control and separate your business from the rest of your life.
Both Packet8 and Nextiva are excellent choices. Packet8 has more options and can be configured in more ways but is less easy to install and control than Nextiva. If your phone usage is very low (under 500 minutes per month) then Nextiva has considerably cheaper options. Both will grow as you grow.
